He defeated Leonardo Mayer 6-7(7)  6–4 6–2 and David Ferrer 6–3 6–3 in order to reach the quarterfinals. Some are doubting if Nadal can win the tournament citing Nadal’s sub-par performance in Monte Carlo as well as the opening match in Barcelona as to why he may not be able to pull it off.

Jan-Lennard Struff, currently sitting at the no.51 spot looks a little worse for wear than his opponent Rafael Nadal. He defeated Hugo Dellien 6–3 6–1, David Goffin 7–6 (6) 6–3, and Stefanos Tsitsipas 6–4 3–6 6-2 to reach Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals. Jan-Lennard Struff shouldn’t be discounted from the win as he’s shown spectacular form so far. The 24-year old’s highest rank has been no. 44 which he achieved on 8th May 2017.
