Holger Rune shares details of his back injury and his main priority to fix it

Holger Rune states that his ongoing back pain prevents him from performing at the level he wants to, and fixing it is his main priority.

Holger Rune Shares Injury Concerns

As a result of his persistent back pain, Holger Rune claims that he is unable to play at the level he wants and has stated that finding a solution is his top concern. Rune has lost six straight games since being severely hindered by a back injury in mid-July.

Most recently, Rune lost shockingly to Thiago Monteiro on Friday in the Davis Cup. Rune shared details about her back injury and said: “During the clay season, there was a pinched nerve at L5, the fifth lumbar vertebra in the spine, so it’s not so good. I know it can be fixed and I get to spend my time fixing it now. I can feel that I can’t play at the level I want, even if I want to and am willing to give 100 percent, I can’t get the same speed in the serve and get the free points I want.”

He further talked about fixing this issue and added: “I will be scanned on Monday, and then we will see what we can do about it. Then it will be fixed. I’d say I’m not coming back until it’s 100 percent.”
