The young tennis star Coco Gauff consulted Patrick Mouratoglou for assistance after splitting up with her previous coach, Diego Moyano, earlier this year. She practiced with Mouratoglou, but it should be noted that he wasn’t her official coach.
Gauff signed Pere Riba as her official coach after reaching the quarterfinals at Roland Garros. Brad Gilbert later joined Gauff’s coaching staff.
In an interview with CNN, Gauff’s coach Mouratoglou stated that the 19-year-old US Open champion Coco Gauff is one of his newest stars. Mouratoglou is recognized as one of the best tennis instructors in the game.
Tennis supporters quickly voiced their anger because they believed Patrick Mouratoglou was grabbing credit for something he had no right to. After Coco was recognized as the French coach’s favorite player, the fans expressed their unhappiness.
One of the fans commented: “This guy is a fraud, he has nothing to do with Coco’s recent achievements.”
Another one wrote: “He’s always trying to make everything about him. Insufferable.”
Another one called Brad Gilbert her coach and wrote: “I thought Brad Gilbert was her coach.”
