Carlos Alcaraz has come under criticism for going to a bullfighting event in Spain, from PETA, a group that promotes animal welfare. Carlos Alcaraz returned home following his defeat in the US Open semifinals and was observed taking part in the dramatic bullfighting scene there.

PETA also criticized Carlos Alcaraz for taking part in an event that involved animal abuse and bloodshed and urged the 20-year-old to pledge that he will never again take part in such an event.

PETA posted on their official account and mentioned Alcaraz saying: Tennis is a sport; animal abuse is NOT.@CarlosAlcaraz! STOP supporting bullfighting!”

The post further read: “CARLOS ALCARAZ, BULLFIGHTING IS TORTURE, NOT CULTURE. There’s nothing entertaining about the stabbing & torturing of animals-& the majority of young people in Spain reject bullfighting as the bloodsport it is. Please don’t support bullfighting and pledge to never attend another fight again.”
