Novak Djokovic discusses his ‘focus’ for the remainder of 2023 season after winning the US Open

From Novak Djokovic's viewpoint, the Davis Cup victory with Serbia is his top aim for the remainder of the 2023 season.

According to Novak Djokovic, his priority for the remaining 2023 season is the Davis Cup victory with Serbia. The Davis Cup Finals group stage is being played this week in Valencia, and Serbia is participating. Serbia would qualify for the knockout round of the Davis Cup Finals, which are held in Malaga between November 21 and 26 if they advance from the group round.

Serbia’s first and only Davis Cup victory so far came in 2010 under Djokovic’s leadership.

Djokovic stated his preference in a recent interview and said: “My priority will be winning the Davis Cup. I hope it will come step by step. The first step was taken without me by winning against South Korea 3:0 two days ago.”

He further added: “I came here to contribute to the overall triumph of Serbia. The goal is to qualify for the final tournament in Malaga and to go where we didn’t play last year.”

Now the world no.1, Djokovic played his last match on the 15th of September when he overcame world no.25 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3 6-4 in the Rubber 2 of the Davis Cup (draw).

At present, during this year the Serbian achieved a composed 46-5 win-loss record. Djokovic conquered 5 titles in 2023 in Adelaide, Australian Open, French Open, Cincinnati and U.S. Open. Djokovic reached the final in Wimbledon.
