INJURED Kevin Anderson will skip the entire clay court season

The South African will skip Estoril, Madrid, Rome and the Roland Garros

Kevin Anderson injury

Tough luck for Kevin Anderson that eventually needs to surrender to his elbow injury.

The world no.6 has been struggling with his elbow for the first part of the season to play only 3 tournaments in Pune (he won the title), Melbourne (2nd round), and Miami (quarters).

The statement

Kevin released the following statement on social media to explain his decision to skip the clay court season.

“Hi Everyone,
I wanted to let you all know that I will unfortunately be missing the clay season this year. After discussing with my doctors and team, we thought the best decision is to rest and rehab my elbow injury for a few more weeks. I will keep working hard each day to get healthy again in time for grass.

I’m very disappointed to be missing Estoril, Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros – all incredible events that have been so great to me and I love going back to – but I know this is the right decision for the long term in my career.
I will also miss seeing the fans there, but I appreciate all of your support and look forward to seeing you again soon.
– Kevin”

Anderson on clay

This is probably the best decision for the South African that is definitely not a clay court specialist even if last year he reached the semifinal in Madrid and the 4th round at the Roland Garros. (see results)
