When American tennis star Coco Gauff won the US Open in 2023, her supporters and several of her colleagues went crazy and celebrated her victory in front of the crowd. Naomi Osaka, a two-time US Open champion and former WTA No. 1, praised the young American teenager in an Instagram story.
Osaka, who was in the audience at Arthur Ashe Stadium, posted a picture of Coco Gauff receiving the US Open trophy along with the emoticons of a heart and a smiling face, tagging Gauff.
Recently, Osaka spoke about Gauff and expressed her thoughts: “I don’t know if I would be bold enough to say I mentored her but I’m always really proud of everything that she does.”
She further added remarks about the 19-year-old US Open champion and said: “She seems like such a good person. Just everything that she’s doing and speaking out about so many different topics. I think it’s something that I’d love to have my kid to look up to her as a role model.”
