Coco Gauff’s improved composure was pointed out by renowned coach Patrick Mouratoglou as the most significant change that contributed to her winning her maiden US Open title.
The movement and defense of Coco Gauff, according to Mouratoglou, are by far the best of the women’s game and he said that anyone can’t compare Gauff’s abilities with any other WTA player right now.
The Frenchman, who previously collaborated with Gauff, has also coached Holger Rune, Serena Williams, Simona Halep, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The 19-year-old, Gauff, has won three of her past four tournaments and 18 of her last 19 matches. On Monday, she attained a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Mouratoglou outlined the key difference that enabled Gauff to win her first Grand Slam title.
Mouratoglou expressed her thoughts about Gauff and her gameplay and said: “For me, the big difference that I see between the Coco of before and the Coco of today, is that she’s mentally more calm. She matured so much in the last two months. I’ve seen some big changes in her attitude on the court and the attitude is just a consequence of how you feel inside.”
He further added: “And the way she moves and her ability to defend and bring so many balls back, which is by far the best of the women’s game and you can’t compare her with any single woman. This is such an asset and actually, she won this final thanks to that.”

WWWWWLWWWL Currently the world no.3 (career-high), Gauff played her last match on the 9th of September when she defeated world no.1 Aryna Sabalenka 2-6 6-3 6-2 in the final of the U.S. Open to win her 6th career title.
During this season Gauff has achieved a 45-13 win-loss record. Coco clinched 4 titles in 2023 in Auckland, Washington, Cincinnati and U.S. Open.
