Coco Gauff And Her Parents At The Today Show

After winning the U.S. Open women’s final on Saturday, Coco Gauff said she got overwhelmed with excitement and that her victory still doesn’t feel real at all. The 19-year-old created history by being the first American teenager to win the title since Serena Williams in 1999.

Coco Gauff stated her thoughts in an interview with Today Show: “It’s still crazy. Even last night I was telling myself, ‘You’re a Grand Slam champion,’ and it doesn’t feel real at all.”

Coco Gauff won her maiden major tournament at the US Open after defeating Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets by 2-6 6-3 6-2.

After claiming her victory in front of a loud crowd of excited fans and A-list celebrities, the teenager fell to the ground and cried on the tennis court at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City.

She further expressed her thoughts and said: “Obviously when you’re losing, you’re like, ‘Why isn’t it happening now?’ It couldn’t have been any more perfect than this moment, doing it in the U.S., in New York City, it’s just incredible.”
