Coco Gauff defeated Karolina Muchova in the US Open semifinals to advance to her second Grand Slam final. After capturing the Cincinnati Masters title last month, the American is currently riding an 11-match winning streak, the longest of her career. She attributed her recent run of success to her developing maturity.
Gauff got emotional and rejoiced in front of the cheering audience after defeating Muchova in the semifinal. She responded excitedly, holding her finger to her ears as if she were prepared to hear the shouts of the crowd.
Gauff expressed her thoughts in the post-match conference: “It was a tough match,” Gauff said afterward in press. I had leads and lost it. It was a lot of emotional, I guess, challenges in the match. But I think I did a good job of staying focused. I have been focusing more on myself and my expectations of myself.”
