From her player’s box, Coco Gauff’s parents, Candi and Corey Gauff will be giving her the most confidence as she competes in her first-ever U.S. Open final.

Corey Gauff, a basketball player at college, attended Georgia State University after growing up in Delray Beach, Florida. Growing up, he didn’t play tennis too much. He started the role of Gauff’s coach as she took up the sport.

Although he is no longer her main coach, he still supports his daughter. He stated some remarks about being a father and a coach: “I think it helps parents when they have played as high as college or even pro. You better understand the process, and so you don’t get too jittery about it. You don’t feel like you’re running out of time, so you are not rushed. You kind of meet your kid where they are at.”

Candi Gauff, who is also from Delray Beach, Florida, participated in both track and gymnastics but chose to stay focused on the latter.

Gauff stated in her winning speech earlier this summer when she took home the Cincinnati Open. She stated: “The biggest thank you to my parents. My mom, I love you so much for being my emotional support. My dad, he’s the reason I’m here. The reason I play tennis. He’s the reason I believe I can do this.”

Currently ranked no.6, the American has a 44-13 win-loss record in 2023. Gauff is currently having a run at the U.S. Open where she bested the world no.121 Laura Siegemund 3-6 6-2 6-4, the world no.63 Mirra Andreeva 6-3 6-2, the world no.32 Elise Mertens 3-6 6-3 6-0, the world no.623 Caroline Wozniacki 6-3 3-6 6-1, the world no.21 Jelena Ostapenko 6-0 6-2 and the world no.10 Karolina Muchova 6-4 7-5.

Coco Gauff will face the world no.2 Aryna Sabalenka in the final on Saturday at 4:00 pm on ARTHUR ASHE STADIUM. The head to head is 3-2 for Gauff.

Gauff conquered 3 titles in 2023 in Auckland, Washington and Cincinnati.
