An “unusual” ATP1000 in Monte Carlo has just ended with the triumph of Fabio Fognini over Dusan Lajovic in the final. After this tournament, we had some interesting movements in the rankings.
Fabio Fognini
After a horrible start of the year, the Italian managed to turn the table in Monte Carlo to win a sensational title after beating Sascha Zverev and Rafael Nadal during the event. After this feat, the Italian goes 6 places up in the rankings to be the new world no.12 (career high).
Dusan Lajovic
Tennis fans were prepared to watch a Serbian playing in the Monaco final, but no one could predict that that Serbian would have been Dusan Lajovic. Eventually, Lajovic lost the final, but he climbed up 24 places in the rankings to be the new world no.24 (career high).
Auger Aliassime
Felix didn’t have a magnificent run in Monte Carlo where he lost in the 2nd round to Sascha Zverev. However, after this week, Felix goes up 2 places in the rankings to be the world no.31 (career high).
Lorenzo Sonego
The Italian also had the run of his life (so far) after he reached the quarters in Monte Carlo starting from the qualifications and playing highly entertaining tennis. After Monaco, Lorenzo gains 30 places in the rankings to be the new world no.66 (career high).
