At the US Open, Novak Djokovic became the first player ever to reach his 47th major semifinal, breaking a historic record. The Serb reached his 46th Major semifinal at Wimbledon, equal to Roger Federer, and then surpassed him in New York two months later to add even another outstanding record to his already impressive total.
Djokovic defeated Taylor Fritz in the US Open quarterfinal in order to achieve the desired outcome. Since 2019, Djokovic has reached 13 Major semifinals, passing Federer to set yet another impressive mark that will be difficult to surpass in the future.
After defeating Taylor Fritz in three sets, 6-1 6-4 6-4 at the US Open, Novak has advanced to the semifinals at all four Majors this season. While Roger Federer continued to be an opponent in the years that followed, Novak lifted the bar even higher.

Djokovic is now competing at the U.S. Open where he overcame the world no.84 Alexandre Muller 6-0 6-2 6-3, the world no.76 Bernabe Zapata Miralles 6-4 6-1 6-1, the world no.38 Laslo Djere 4-6 4-6 6-1 6-1 6-3, the world no.105 Borna Gojo 6-2 7-5 6-4 and the world no.9 Taylor Fritz 6-1 6-4 6-4.
Novak Djokovic will take on the world no.47 Ben Shelton in the semifinal. They have never competed against each other till now on the main tour.
Novak clinched 4 titles in 2023 in Adelaide, Australian Open, French Open and Cincinnati. Djokovic was the finalist in Wimbledon.
