Carlo Alcaraz: “Novak Djokovic’s draw is open”

Carlos Alcaraz was taken aback by Novak Djokovic's draw at the 2023 US Open, particularly after Casper Ruud's defeat.

Djokovic At The Us Open

Particularly after Casper Ruud lost and cleared the way, Carlos Alcaraz was surprised by Novak Djokovic’s draw at the 2023 US Open.

When Alcaraz discovered that Novak Djokovic had the easiest draw out of all the players, he was already gaining from a favorable situation. Even while some could argue that it had no effect because Casper Ruud had not been at his best, it really made things simpler for him when he lost the competition early.

Alcaraz was merely shocked to see players, such as Holger Rune and Ruud, whom he respects crash out early. On the other hand, it makes Djokovic’s draw easier, which indirectly harms Alcaraz but also gives up his part for Rune.

Alcaraz highlighted this in a press conference and stated: “I was surprised that Rune, Ruud, and other top players already lost. But this is a Grand Slam. All matches are very tough. This shows how competitive this tournament is. In terms of ranking, Djokovic’s draw is open, but there are good players left.”
