In her partnership with 62-year-old Brad Gilbert, Coco Gauff, who is only 19 years old, occasionally feels younger and wiser in a hilarious sense.
Together, they started working in Washington, D.C., where the renowned coach Gilbert joined Pere Riba’s reorganized staff as a consultant. Gilbert was quite admiring of the team’s spirit when he spoke earlier in an interview during the US Open about his experiences coaching American talent.
When discussing Gilbert’s presence and how it affects the relationship between members of the group, Gauff told many stories. Gauff shared in a press conference and laughed while saying: “I was worried about being with the older person, to be honest, before I met Brad. He’s older but he still has the mind of, like, a 20-year-old, maybe even younger, a 10-year-old kid sometimes.”
She further added: “He’s older but still has the mind of a 20-year-old. Maybe even younger, a 10-year-old kid sometimes. He played every match with a jolly rancher in his mouth. He’s been giving me jolly ranchers all the time. I take them but I don’t eat them.”
