John Isner lost to Michael Mmoh in the second round of the U.S. Open on August 31 by scores of 3-6, 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-4, and 7-6(7).
After losing in the second round of the Grand Slam, John Isner’s professional tennis career as a singles player came to an end, and he broke down in tears during his farewell post-match press conference at the US Open.
Isner spoke during the on-court interview and cried while talking: “Yeah, you know this is why, I’ve worked as hard as I have my whole life too. You know, playing in an atmosphere like this, and of course, I may not win them all, as we know. Just like today to play in this crowd, in front of this crowd, and have the support I had is pretty special. So thank you.”

Now ranked no.157, Isner played his last match on the 31st of August when he lost to world no.89 Michael Mmoh 3-6 4-6 7-6(3) 6-4 7-6(7) in the 2nd round of the U.S. Open (draw).
