The World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev was perplexed by Chris O’Connell’s unexpected comeback during a nail-biting second-round US Open match, which led to a surprising request.
After dropping the third set at Louis Armstrong Stadium, Medvedev questioned the doctor in a funny style: “Can I have what he had?”
That inquiry was in response to O’Connell’s mid-game medical intervention, during which O’Connell obtained an inhaler from a doctor after claiming to have respiratory problems.
At Medvedev’s request, the doctor replied: “Are you having those symptoms?”
Medvedev replied: “Well, I lost the set.”
