There was a bit of a controversy during the match between Vika Azarenka and Serena Williams.

During an important point Vika did strike a shoot on the line that Serena couldn’t put back in play. Just a fraction of seconds after the American missed her shot, the ball was mistakenly called out. The umpire went to check the mark and the ball was in. Since the ball was called out after Serena missed the shot, Vika wanted the point anyway because the call didn’t distract Serena. Eventually the point was repeated and Serena won that one.

Azarenka: What about a review system?

Vika had a point “We need to have a review (system). You know, to have a damn review, because it was so clear. But in that moment, if you don’t have a review like that, it’s causing a lot of problems. Maybe there is something you can do about it, because it’s always this rule that is the umpire’s call, and I don’t get it. How would you call that? She already hit the ball. The ball was touching the net and he says it’s not a late call.

There definitely has to be a review on that. We have a Hawk-Eye, so might as well just have that.”

Serena: That would be cool

The world no.1 agreed with the idea to say “I think that would be really cool. Because sometimes you may or may not foot fault and that instant replay on that foot fault. I think it could definitely not only be fun for the fans, but as well be helpful for the players to have that kind of instant replay thing. I think that’s a really great idea.”

So, is this a good idea?

WE MIGHT AVOID THIS WITH THE SYSTEM REVIEW
