Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula are among the top favorites to win the US Open, and they decided once again to compete together in doubles. There was a rather entertaining moment during their last match on Wednesday when they were facing 19-year-olds Elizabeth Mandlik and Quinn Gleason. After striking a remarkable forehand, Coco Gauff had the impression that they had won the match.
However, they were leading only 5-1 in the second set. Therefore, the American sensation, soon after winning that point, went near her partner to celebrate what she believed was a win. Jessica “refused” to hug, explaining to Coco that they still had to win another game. Here’s the hilarious video.
Coco Gauff on when she thought she won her doubles match with Jessica Pegula at US Open:
“Oh I thought the match was over. I hit a great return & I went for a hug & Jess was like going away from me. I was like ‘Damn. Like what did I do?’” 😂 pic.twitter.com/xjRyzKfgTj
