APOSTOLOS BACK. Stefanos Tsitsipas splits again with Philippoussis after crashing out of the US Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas hired Mark Philippoussis to replace his father, Apostolos.

Stefanos Tsitsipas tried to make a huge change in his coaching team when he hired back Mark Philippoussis, putting aside his father, Apostolos. Things looked great at the very beginning after the Greek player conquered the ATP 250 in Los Cabos. Everything went south soon after. Stefanos lost his opening match in Toronto, and he won just one match in Cincinnati.

Tsitsipas was upset by Dominic Stricker on Wednesday in the US Open second round, and soon after the match, he decided to part ways for the second time with Mark Philippoussis. At this point, it is very plausible that his father, Apostolos, will be back coaching his son.

Stefanos Tsitsipas refused to place the blame on his new coaching staff as his dismal performance at the US Open continued on Thursday with a loss to Swiss qualifier Dominic Stricker in the second round.

“By no means I’m supposed to put any blame on any people or any members of my team,” Tsitsipas said.

“Everything on court is under my control and under my talents, and the way I can play this sport are shown out on the court. If I’m not able to deliver, then I’m not supposed to be doing well,” he said.
