Nole didn't look very comfortable in his first round match against Philipp Kohlschreiber to fuel some speculations about his elbow injury

Djokovic possible elbow injury in Monte Carlo

Novak Djokovic had a fantastic start of his 2019 after he won his 15th slam in Melbourne.

However, there are some dark clouds at the horizon after the Serbian had a rather disappointing run at the Sunshine Double after he lost in the 3rd round in Indian Wells and the 4th in Miami. In addition, the world no.1 didn’t look at his very best in the opening game in Monte Carlo after he edged Philipp Kohlschreiber in 3 sets (6-3 4-6 6-4).

The Serbian sensation looked extremely nervous against the German and his service motion didn’t look that right to fuel some speculations about his elbow.

Djokovic’s elbow injury

The world no.1 was sidelined by an elbow injury of for almost 1 year in what was probably the most challenging moment of his fantastic career. However, the Serbian champion managed to bounce back in style to win 3 consecutive slams (Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open) to get back his world no.1 rank.

At a certain point, Djokovic lost 4 consecutive games on serve in his match against Kohlschreiber to fuel speculations that he is struggling again with his elbow.

Nole dismissed a problem to his elbow to comment

“I lost my serve four games in a row in the second set, and that hasn’t happened too many times in my life.

I’m not a big server, but still, that’s quite a lot. It just didn’t feel so comfortable serving today. Let’s put it that way.”

On Thursday, Djokovic will face an in-form Taylor Fritz in the 3rd round. It would be interesting to see if he will still struggling with his serve.
