Thursday will be a great day for the fans in Monte Carlo that will have the luxury to see in action Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas on the Court Ranier III.
Tsitsipas vs. Medvedev – 1st match (11 am)
Stefanos will clash against his nemesis Daniil Medvedev in the first match on the Court Ranier III. The Greek arrived at the appointment after beating Mikhail Kukushkin 6-3 7-5 while the Russian demolished Joao Sousa 6-1 6-1 and Radu Albot 6-1 6-2.
The head to head between Tsitsipas and Medvedev is 3-0 for the Russian.
According to Bet365 Tsitsipas is the favorite to win the match. See quotes.
Djokovic vs. Fritz – 2nd match
Nole will face an in-form Taylor Fritz in the 3rd round. The Serbian wasn’t playing at his best in the opening match against Phillip Kohlschreiber to raise some concerns about his elbow after he was struggling so much with his service motion. Nole won 6-3 4-6 6-4, but that wasn’t an excellent performance on his side.
On the other part of the net, Taylor Fritz is having a great run in Monte Carlo comparing to the expectations. The American won the first round against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga after the Frenchman had to retire while he was 4-6 0-2 down, but Tayor impressed in the second round after he defeated the clay court specialist Diego Schwartzman 6-4 6-2.
There is no head to head record between Djokovic and Fritz since this will be the first time that they will face each other.
According to Bet365 Djokovic is the SUPER favorite to win the match. However, Fritz’ win would pay 9/1 which given Nole’s condition could be attractive. See quotes.
Nadal vs. Dimitrov – 3rd match
Rafael Nadal impressed (again) with an outstanding start of his Monte Carlo campaign after he demolished Roberto Bautista Agut 6-1 6-1 in his opening match leaving the Spaniard no.2 with no options.
On the other side of the net, the world no.2 will face Grigor Dimitrov that reached the 3rd round in the Principality after he defeated Matteo Berrettini 7-5 6-4 and Jan-Lennard Struff 7-6 (2) 6-4.
The head to head between Nadal and Dimitrov is 11-1 for the Spaniard that defeated the Bulgarian last year in the Monte Carlo semifinal in straight sets (6-4 6-1).
According to Bet365 Nadal is the SUPER favorite to win the match. Dimitrov’s win would pay 15/1. See quotes.
Zverev vs. Fognini – 4th match
Sascha has been struggling for the entire first part of the season with his results with the exception of his final in Acapulco. Also, the German crashed out in the 2nd round in Marrakech at the hands of Jaume Munar in his first tournament of the season on clay. However, Zverev had a rather impressive start in Monte Carlo after he defeated an in-form Felix Auger Aliassime in the opening match 6-4 6-1.
On the other side, Fabio Fognini is having a rather bad 2019. The Italian has a grim 5-8 win-loss record in this season and an uncharacteristic 1-4 record on clay that is his favorite surface. Fognini reached the 3rd round in the Principality after he defeated Andrey Rublev 4-6 7-5 6-4 and he had a walkover after Simon withdrew in the 2nd round.
The head to head between Zverev and Fognini is 2-0 for the German that has never conceded a single set to his upcoming opponent.
According to Bet365, Zverev is the favorite to win the match. See quotes.
