Sharapova
Maria plays one of ominous matches against her compatriot and world no. 91 Vitalia Diatchenko. Sharapova blasted 24 winners and only 8 unforced errors to give absolutely no hope to her opponent.
The world no.2 will now face Sam Stosur in the next round. Head to head is 14-2 for Maria.
Ivanovic
Ana had to fight hard against world no.103 Misaki Doi to win 3-6 6-3 6-4. After the match Ana commented “I didn’t know much about her going into today’s match. She played well last week. I tried to watch a little bit, but obviously it was different once you’re on the court.
Ana will play Donna Vekic in the 3rd round. This will be the first time the will play each other.
