In the opening round of the US Open, Dominic Thiem rolled back moments at Flushing Meadows by defeating 25th seed Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
The 2020 champion Thiem got off to a tough start before breaking Bublik to go 4-2 ahead. He was broken straight back, but he quickly bounced back to regain the upper hand before serving out easily to take the first set.
The second played out similarly, with Thiem extending his domination with an early break to go up 2-1. Bublik served 17 double faults and made 44 unforced errors in an inconsistent performance that led to his third successive first-round Grand Slam defeat.
Before suffering the loss, Bublik can be seen frustrated and smashing his racquet to the ground for repeated errors and serves.
