Federer safe to the FO 3rd round

Strange match for Roger Federer against Granollers.

The Swiss Maestro had to recover from a break down in the 2nd and 3rd sets, but eventually he managed to win in straight set.

Roger was broken in the 6th game of the second set (2-4) to then break back Granollers soon after (3-4) and win the second set at the breaker at 1. In the third set Roger dropped his serve in the very first game to then face a 0-2 deficit. From that moment Roger won 5 consecutive game to finally win the set and match 6-2 7-6 (1) 6-3.

Roger: I was playing very well

The Maestro was always in control of the match even when he (curiously) lost his service games in the 2nd and 3rd set “I think I was actually playing very well,” said Federer. “I wasn’t nervous really. I think things went well for me for the first couple of sets. I think I was in control. Even though I was down a break in the second set, I still felt the match was in my racquet. And when you feel that way, obviously you’re always going to feel more confident, more comfortable, not nervous.

But the thing you don’t want to do is you want to start off badly sets, and that’s what happened in the beginning of the third. I played a horrible game. It was just very disappointing and frustrating. But after that, I must say, it was probably my best spell of the match right after that… I was offensive. I was successful at net. So overall, I was very, very pleased.”

Next vs. Dzumhur

Roger will play world .88 Dzumhur. This will be he first time they lay each other.
