AUGER ALIASSIME. What I will do vs. Zverev in Monte Carlo

The Canadian is looking forward to playing against Zverev in Monte Carlo.

Felix Auger Aliassime

Felix Auger Aliassime and Alexander Zverev are going to clash in the most interesting 2nd round of this edition in Monte Carlo on Wednesday as the second match of the day on Court Ranier III.

The young Canadian is hitting strong and hard the headlines after his recent run in Miami, and he seems to have found the right mindset to play with the “big boys” after so much success at the Challenger Tour level.

In Monte Carlo, the 18-year-old won a sticky first round match against Juan Ignacio Londero that has been playing rather good tennis especially on clay. Felix managed to defeat the coriaceous Argentine 7-5 7-6 (5) after converting his 4th match point.

Next vs. Alexander Zverev

Felix will face Sascha Zveren in the second round in Monaco. There is no H2H record since this will be the first time that they play each other.

Even if Zverev’s ranking is considerably better than Felix’, an upset would not be so unexpected also because the German is struggling with his tennis since the beginning of the season. Sascha recently crashed out as early as in the 2nd round in Marrakech to the then world no.70 Jaume Munar.

“I’m going to try to dictate the game.”

Soon after winning the 1st round, Felix commented

“I think this is a good opportunity. He’s the one who’s more or less the leader of the new generation of tennis players. It’s been a while since he’s been around, so he’s got lots of experience already.

So for me, this is going to be a great opportunity to play against him and to see how I do against him. I believe in my tennis. I am going to try to do my best, and I’m very hopeful that I will adjust my play to his. I’m going to try to dictate the game.

Recently, Zverev talked extremely nicely about Auger Aliassime saying that he is very happy for him and he is one of the “nicest guys he knows.”
