For his upcoming run at the US Open, Stefanos Tsitsipas has restricted his father from his player’s box. Instead, Tsitsipas will have new coach Mark Philippoussis on his side and is hoping the Australian can be a more beneficial presence.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has been working to make his coaching staff more professional. His father, Apostolos, has been his coach since he was a kid, although he later had trouble progressing. From a coaching perspective, his connection with his father, Apostolos, was always regarded as challenging. Stefanos Tsitsipas announced that his father would not be in his player’s box at the US Open as a result.
Tsitsipas informed the media about his decision and stated that: “My father right now, I gave him some time off. He hasn’t had time off since I was 12 years old. So I think for him, I think it’s very healthy to take some time away from the court and feel refreshed again.”
Tsitsipas had a good season, but he ultimately wishes he had performed better in the bigger competitions. He expressed his thoughts and said: “I have big standards in terms of finishing the year strong, and I want to deliver on that promise of mine.”
