Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger Aliassime, and Bianca Andreescu are more and more the faces of Tennis Canada, especially after the last Sunshine Double when Bianca won Indian Wells while Denis and Felix reached the semifinals in Miami.
Shapovalov, Auger Aliassime in Monte Carlo
Denis and Felix are going to compete in Monte Carlo where Auger Aliassime received a well deserved wild card for the main draw in singles. However, the Canadians decided to team up also in doubles, and they are going to face Dominic Thiem and Jurgen Melzer in the 1st round.
Shapovalov and Auger Aliassime have a good history of playing doubles together. They won the 2015 Us Open, and they were the 2016 runner-up in Wimbledon in this specialty (in juniors). They are also going to play doubles together in Barcelona the following week.
Besides the fun, the Canadian are going to pocket 5,000 Euros each if they lose in the first round and 9,000 Euros if they reach the second round. It’s good money for what they may consider as training… and a big entertainment for the fans.
So, why not?
