Medvedev stated: “I think it’s great for tennis that we have these two guys playing against each other right now. It doesn’t irritate me at all. Now they’re 1, 2 by the margin. I think they are maybe 1000, or 500 points ahead of me. I’m #3 by the margin. There’s no one behind me, at least that close. I think that’s normal when we talk about them. I do think we still talk about me. I’m not feeling too bad, but I’m going to try. The goal is, after this US Open, that we talk about me.”

At the moment ranked no.1, the Spaniard played his last encounter on the 20^th of August when he lost to world no.2 Novak Djokovic 5-7 7-6(7) 7-6(4) in the final in Cincinnati (draw).

Currently, during this year the Spaniard achieved a 53-6 record. Carlos clinched 6 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona, Madrid, London and Wimbledon. The Spaniard got to the final in Rio de Janeiro and Cincinnati.
