For many years, there has been a problem with the income gap between ATP and WTA players. The most recent numbers revealed by Forbes merely fueled the fire. Coco Gauff, an American, finished seventh among the Top 10 with earnings of over $15.2 million. Her on-court earnings are less than 22% because she received substantial sponsorship money.

The top seed Gauff acknowledged that pay inequity is real and requires attention. Gauff also clarified how the authorities plan to handle the difference.

In comparison to the other Slams, the winner of the year’s last Slam receives the most prize money. This year, the US Open celebrated the 50th anniversary of equal pay, and a gala was arranged. The topic of monetary inequality, which has plagued WTA for decades, was brought up after a lighter beginning.

Gauff was questioned about the changes she would want to see in the system during the pre-tournament news conference. She stated: “Yeah, there’s obviously a lot of inequities on prize money, more on the 1000, 500, and 250 level. They have a plan in place, from what I’m told, like a 10-year plan, to kind of improve that situation. I definitely think a lot of it needs to be improved, especially in these events.”
