Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula are the top two entrants for the Guadalajara Open, a WTA 1000 event that begins on September 17.

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and World No. 3 Jessica Pegula are at the top of the entry list for the AKRON Guadalajara Open, a WTA 1000 competition that starts on September 17. In Guadalajara, seven of the Top 10 players on the Hologic WTA Tour are competing, including Maria Sakkari, Ons Jabeur, and Coco Gauff. After the US Open, it will be the inaugural WTA 1000 event.

Swiatek, who skipped the event last fall, is expected to make her tournament debut in Guadalajara. After the 2021 WTA Finals, it would be Swiatek’s second participation in the Mexican city.

Pegula made her breakthrough in Guadalajara last fall, winning her first WTA 1000 title and finishing off an outstanding season. In order to build on that success, Pegula won a second North American hard-court tournament in Montreal this year.
