At the US Open this year, John McEnroe expects to see Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic face off once more. Djokovic, who is visiting Flushing Meadows for the first time in two years, will be Alcaraz’s opponent as he attempts to defend his title. John McEnroe acknowledges that he would “love to see” a rematch between Alcaraz and Djokovic take place in New York after their spectacular three-set showdown on Sunday in Cincinnati.

John McEnroe says he would “love to see” the first-ever encounter between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open. The world No. 1 and the 23-time Grand Slam champion have had a fierce rivalry for the past 18 months, with both players winning two of their four head-to-head encounters.

On August 28, the US Open main event begins, and McEnroe says he would “love” to see the two compete against one another at Flushing Meadows.

McEnroe shared his remarks during a conversation: “Even though in America you want to see an American breakthrough, everyone is saying ‘Oh I want to see Alcaraz play Novak’ because he wasn’t allowed to play. That was the first tournament in America he’s played in two years in the States. The whole thing was crazy. It’s a great story.”

He further added: “To see the all-time great play against the young superstar is incredible. I’d love to see that match played again. The last couple of matches have all been close and incredible matches. Let’s hope it lasts.”
