A dispute broke out during the 2023 US Open qualifying stages when a spectator shouted comments at former tennis player Viktor Troicki. Viktor was in Flushing Meadows to support Serbian athlete Hamad Medjedovic.
Medjedovic is being coached by Troicki at the moment and competed against Croatia’s Borna Gojo in the first round of qualification for the US Open.
During the match, a disturbance in the crowd arose when a few local supporters began arguing with Viktor Troicki. A witness was heard calling the former World No. 12 a “crybaby” and coming near to the Serb in a video of the altercation.
One of the spectators shouted: “This f*ing crybaby, he can’t stand someone cheering a f*ing player. It’s the US Open. It’s 12 million f*ing people in here. We’re all f*** loud. F*** clown.”
The man kept on yelling racial remarks towards Troicki while claiming that he was only there to support his teammates.
Among the crowd, that man shouted again and said: “We’re cheering you d*. It’s New York not f*ing Serbia. Then about the security person bit. He won’t f***ing stop. This a****le told me to shut up.”
Confrontation between a US Open fan and Viktor Troicki, the American fan was being VERY aggressive to Viktor. Seems like Viktor asked the fan to keep it down, and the fan exploded. Unnecessary. ‘This is New York, not F****** Serbia’, the fan said 🤦♂️
