Federer, Nadal movie Stroke of Genius nominated for Sports Emmys

The movie about the famous 2018 Wimbledon final that was probably the best match in tennis history won 2 nominations

Stroke of Genius

The 2008 Wimbledon final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal was probably the best match in tennis history.

That year, the 2 tennis legends were fighting hard all over the world with Roger trying to dethrone Rafa at the Roland Garros and the Spaniard doing the same on Wimbledon. As for Federer’s words, Rafa was the King of Clay while Federer was the King of Grass and every match between them had something special.

Why the 2008 Wimbledon final was epic

Rafa was very close to winning the Wimbledon final against Roger in 2007, but eventually, he lost in 5 sets. In 2008 the Spaniard had to work hard and through an infinite number of rain delays to conquer his first title in Wimbledon.

Rafa was close to winning the match in the 4th set, but Federer saved a championship point with an immense backhand passing shot. Nadal kept his cool and eventually he won the match 6-4 6-4 6-7 (5) 6-7 (8) 9-7 after a fight full of formidable shots.
