Nishikori: American food helped me

World no.5 Kei Nishikori had to take the tough decision to move to the US when he was a teenager to try to develop his tennis skills.

During a recent interview the Japanese talked about the struggle with moving so far from home, but eventually he admitted that being in the States gave him lots of advantages like… the food!

Nishikori: I got much bigger

Kei commented “I think it was good that I went to the U.S., because after a couple of years, I got much bigger in height and more weight. The taste wasn’t the best, but it was good for me, good for the body. Japanese food is healthy but it doesn’t get you much bigger.”

The Japanese will now play the Roland Garros where he should be seeded no.5
