How Jessica Pegula helped Coco Gauff

The Cincinnati Open victory by Coco Gauff was the biggest triumph of her career, and she attributes a lot of her success to doubles partner Jessica Pegula.

Gauff With Pegula

When Coco Gauff won the Cincinnati Open, it was the biggest victory of her career, and she credits doubles partner Jessica Pegula with being a major factor in her achievement.

Teenager Gauff won her first WTA 1000 trophy after defeating Karolina Muchova 6-3, 6-4, but she believes her performance against Iga Swiatek in the semifinal put her up for victory.

Gauff expressed her feelings after the title win and said: “Other than the win today, it was definitely the win against Iga. I think that put a lot of confidence in me. Especially after the loss in Montreal, sometimes you win a title, and then you lose and you go back to your old ways. I didn’t really let that loss affect me. It made me more motivated to get better.”

She further stated remarks for Pegula and said: “Jess played an incredible match. I think that just inspired me even more. And honestly, seeing her beat Iga last week gave me some hope because I was like, I got close to beating her and I’ve beaten Jess before, so it gave me some hope that maybe this was my time.”
