Following her victory in the 2023 Cincinnati Open, Coco Gauff gave a touching speech in which she paid tribute to her parents.
Gauff won the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open on Sunday, August 20, after defeating Czech Republic’s Karolina Muchova 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match.
Gauff also made history by becoming the Cincinnati Open champion at the age of 19. Coco Gauff conveyed her sincere gratitude to her parents, Corey and Candi, who were not there to support her this time. Her brothers, grandparents, and cousins were among the additional family members she listed.
Gauff expressed her thoughts in her ceremony speech: “I have a couple more people to thank. My family at home that are watching right now. I really love you guys. My brothers, my grandparents, my cousins. I know you guys are all watching. And the biggest, biggest thank you to my parents.”
Coco Gauff Gauff praised her father for inspiring her to pick up a tennis racket and thanked her mother for being her support.
She praised her father in an emotional speech: “He is the reason why I believe I can do this. Ya, thank you to my dad. I love you. And I’m just so happy, and it is really because of you. You gave me the scouting reports all week. So, I appreciate it.”

Ranked world no.6, Coco played her last match on the 20th of August when she defeated world no.10 Karolina Muchova 6-3 6-4 in the final in Cincinnati to win her 5th career title.
This year the American has managed to achieve a compiled 38-13 record. Coco clinched 3 titles in 2023 in Auckland, Washington and Cincinnati.
