Maria Sharapova wins her 35th title in Rome after a 2 hours and 35 minutes struggle against Carla Suarez Navarro.
The world no.3 had a huge fight against the Spaniard. Things got complicated for the Russian Beauty after she lost the first set (6-3). Maria managed to grab a couple of important leads in the second set (3-1 ad 5-3), but the Spaniard has always recovered the deficit. The most important moment was when eventually Sharapova won the 2nd set (7-5). Carla didn’t manage to recover to implode in the decider. Sharapova won 3-6 7-5 6-1.
After the win Maria commented “Italy’s very special. The fans here are passionate & brings the best out of us”
