Bouchard wins a match after 2 months!

Genie Bouchard winning a match in the opener of a tournament shouldn’t be a news, but strange enough… it is!

The Canadian Beauty is having a rather disappointing season after being plagued by injuries and strange behaviors off the court. Genie hasn’t managed to win a match since Indian Wells (17th of March) to lose 4 consecutive matches in 4 openers. Finally she broke this losing streak by beating world no.34 Zarina Diyas in Rome 6-3 6-4. Match Stats.

Bouchard: It’s has been an up and down this year

Genie commented “It’s been an up and down kind of year for me. I started out well, but I haven’t been playing so well in matches in the last couple of months. It’s frustrating, because I’ve been doing better in practice and I’ve been doing better in the gym. So I just feel it’ll come – and I don’t want to freak out about it.”

FINALLY A WIN!  (Genie’s last few matches)

Next vs. Suarez Navarro

Genie will have a challenging test in the third round against clay court specialist Carla Suarez Navarro. Head to head is 1-all and curiously enough it’s 1-0 for Genie on clay, but the Spaniard may have an edge this time.
