Elina Svitolina shows off cast after retiring from Cincinnati

Elina Svitolina decided to skip the Cincinnati Open because of her foot problem. Currently, she is striving against all odds to recover.

Due to the foot injury, Elina Svitolina made the decision to withdraw from the Cincinnati Open. The Ukrainian is currently working against all odds to become better in time for the US Open.

The most recent time that Svitolina competed was at the Canadian Open when she was defeated by Danielle Collins in the Round of 64. She also advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals and the Citi Open quarterfinals.

The 28-year-old claimed that after a scan in Montreal, she discovered problems that prompted her to withdraw from this year’s Cincinnati event in order to relax and recover.

She informed the fans about her injury and withdrawal from Cincinnati and said: “Unfortunately I have been experiencing some foot pain since Wimbledon and I was advised to have a scan after Montreal which has shown some issues that need addressing and resting, so I am unable to play in Cincinnati this year.”

She further added: “I am really disappointed to pull out anywhere but I love the fans in Cincy and love playing in front of them which makes it extra hard but I have to take the medical advice I have been given.”

Recently, Elina showed up on her Instagram account and posted with her image: “Well, hello.” In the image shared, it can be seen that her foot recovery is in progress.
