Carlos Alcaraz Wins At Wimbledon

Andy Roddick claims Carlos Alcaraz “shocked” him at Wimbledon since the American tennis legend didn’t believe anyone could defeat Novak Djokovic at the tournaments this year.

The 20-year-old Alcaraz acknowledged that he still had a lot to learn about playing on the most challenging tennis court, and he wasn’t placing high expectations on himself to succeed. However, Alcaraz went on to win the Queen’s and Wimbledon after defeating Djokovic in the championship match.

Andy Roddick shared his thoughts: “I was shocked by the result of the men’s Wimbledon final. Two months ago, I don’t think anyone would have predicted Novak being beaten on grass. His dominance on the surface over the last 10 years has actually been underreported, in my opinion. Grass is one of those surfaces that, as a young player, it normally takes a couple of seasons to grasp, but Alcaraz is a different type of dude.”

He further acknowledged Alcaraz’s dominance at Wimbledon and said: “That fifth set was the first time in a long time that I’ve seen Djokovic on his heels. The way that Alcaraz is able to create speed, open up his shoulders and push his opponent around is so impressive.”

Djokovic hailed Alcaraz’s outstanding performance and gave the Spaniard all due credit.
