Naomi Osaka had a fantastic run with her former coach Sascha Baijin after she won Indian Wells, the US Open and the Australian Open coming almost from nowhere.

Following her abrupt split with Sascha, the Japanese sensation had the tricky task of choosing her next coach, and she decided to try with Jermaine Jenkins that was the USTA national coach for women’s tennis after being the hitting partner of Venus Williams.

Why Naomi Osaka hired Jermaine Jenkins

During a recent press conference in Miami, Naomi explained why she hired her new coach Jermaine Jenkins

“I’ve seen him around because he used to be with Venus. But, of course, I never talked to him because I don’t talk to people. But I’ve heard a lot of people saying good things about him. I think it’s good that he’s only worked with that one person for a long time. For me, I want the team around me to be for a very long time.

I don’t want to keep changing people every year. I don’t feel good doing that. I think there was nothing but positive things said about him. When I met him, he was really great.”

Naomi’s partnership with Jermaine didn’t start that well after the Japanese lost in the 4th round in Indian Wells and the 3rd round in Miami. However, it’s still early to say how it is going to be.
