After the Australian tennis player recently announced his resignation from the US Open, tennis fans raised the retirement alarms for Nick Kyrgios.
Having previously pulled out of the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon due to injury issues, Kyrgios’ absence means that he will end the year without competing in a Major tournament.
The US Open officials informed that Kyrgios had withdrawn and issued a statement: “Nick Kyrgios, a 2022 quarterfinalist, is out of this year’s US Open. Hope to see you back on the court soon, Nick!”.
Tennis fans were unhappy with the statement that Kyrgios should give up the sport in response to Kyrgios’ continual absence from the court. One fan criticized Kyrgios for not contributing significantly to tennis and said: “Why doesn’t he retire? Something is always going on with him. What good is he to the sport?”
Another fan commented: “When’s he gonna announce his retirement? It’s inevitable at this point.”
