Coco Gauff recently stated that her work with Brad Gilbert was merely a trial, but she is now convinced that she wants to continue.
The American hasn’t had a lot of successful months on the WTA Tour. Gauff finally found a new coach before Wimbledon, choosing to work with Pere Riba. Although Riba is a young coach and not with much experience.
Gauff sought out seasoned coach Brad Gilbert as a result to act as more of an advisor than a weekly coach who would accompany her on her travels. Although she acknowledged that it is only an experiment and not something she was willing to call permanent, she is convinced that it will be beneficial for the upcoming few weeks after seeing how well it works in Washington at the 2023 Citi Open.
She expressed her opinion during a conversation: “I mean, we were just trying it this week, but obviously, I think, with the way it’s been going, we are going to continue. You know, with anyone, you don’t want to say, Let’s plan for a long time. I really only had one conversation with him in person, and that was at Wimbledon.”
