Greg Rusedski is sure: Roger Federer will break Jimmy Connors’ record of 109 title.

The Brit was surprised by Roger Federer’s results during this Sunshine Double after he reached the final in Indian Wells before winning the Miami Open.

The Swiss Maestro has now 101 titles and he is closing to Connors’ record (109 titles). Winning 8 titles at 37 years of age would be unthinkable for any “normal” player, but Federer is extraordinary, and he has the chances to have this ‘last hurrah.’

Roger Federer will beat Jimmy Connors’ record if…

During a recent interview with Amazon Prime, former Brit no.1 Greg Rusedski commented

“I don’t think there’s any doubt as long as he stays healthy.

If he stays healthy, for sure, I’m looking at him this year, and there’s relaxation. Today was a big test, and he was so good in that first set-and-a-half.

If he stays healthy, I think he gets past 109. He’s four in the world and saying I don’t care about being No. 1 right now, but he’s still continually winning.

He’s the only man to win two titles this year. At 37 years of age his year he’s having this year is better than most people in their careers on the ATP Tour. As long as he can keep playing, please keep doing it.

Roger Federer has recently stated that he is interested in winning titles and his objective is not the world no.1 rank. This means that even if he will not admit, he is aiming at Connors’ record.

Game on.

WHY NOT?
