Serena Williams is currently ranked no.10, but she is struggling to stage the comeback she was hoping for after her complicated pregnancy.
Serena had a good Australian Open…
The American looked in great shape at the Australian Open where she reached the quarters after trouncing Tatjana Maria 6-0 6-2, Genie Bouchard 6-2 6-2, and Dayana Yastremska 6-2 6-1. In the 4th round, Serena had an outstanding win against Simona Halep (6-1 4-6 6-4) before losing a very tight match against Karolina Pliskova 6-4 4-6 7-5 in the quarters.
… but not at the Sunshine Double
The former world no.1 had a weird run during the Sunshine Double. In fact, she withdrew in her second match for an undisclosed illness, and she withdrew in the 3rd round at the Miami because of a problem to her knee that was the exact excuse that Serena used when she couldn’t play in Indian Wells in 2017 while the truth was that she was pregnant.
Why Serena Williams may be pregnant
According to a popular website, Serena might be pregnant because after showing great form in Melbourne, her unspecified illness in Indian Wells was rather suspicious and also her retirement from Miami was also strange because, as mentioned, it was the same excuse she had when she wanted to hide her first pregnancy. Furthermore, during the tournament in Florida, it seemed as Serena out a bit of weight.
Olympia needs a little sister. SERENA
To add more weight to the hypothesis that Serena is pregnant, during an interview back in 2018 with Harper bazar, Serena commented
“If I wasn’t playing tennis, I’d be pregnant right now;Â sorry, I’m one of those women. I’ve been injured so many times and played on it; my body is used to adjusting. Olympia needs a little sister, and then we can have a boy. I’ve only been around girls my whole life.”
Will Serena be back in Rome?
Of course, these are just speculations, and we will know if Serena is pregnant again only if she will be back to competitions in Rome as per her coach Patrick Moratouglou.
