Roger Federer will not upset Nadal or Djokovic at the French Open, but… RUSEDSKI

Roger Federer was the best player in the world for the last 3 weeks, but Rusedski doesn't think that the Swiss has a chance to upset Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic at the French Open

Roger Federer had an outstanding run during the Sunshine Double after he reached the final in Indian Wells and he won the title at the Miami Open.

After this feat, the Swiss legend went up in the rankings to be the new world no.4, but he is leading the Year To Date rankings after leapfrogging Stefanos Tsitsipas, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal.

Roger Federer’s chances to win the French Open

Federer decided to compete during the clay season to play the ATP1000 in Madrid and the Roland Garros. The Swiss has the main objective to win as many (important) titles as he can and it’s, therefore, improbable that he is willing to compete in tournaments that he believes he has no chances to win.

However, according to the former world no.4 and commentator Greg Rusedski Federer is not even serious about thinking that he can upset Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic at the French Open.

Talking to Amazon Prime, Rusedski commented

“The last three weeks he’s been the best player on the planet.

But we don’t define someone by three weeks, we define them by a whole year and their whole career. With Djokovic going out early, that gave him a little bit more inspiration because he’s thinking, ‘I can make a lead, I’m leading the race with the most points right now out there and I know during the clay-court season Nadal, Djokovic; all these guys are going to make a lot of points.’

He’s looking for matches before Wimbledon. He doesn’t really think he’s going to win the French Open, let’s be honest. He thinks that’s either Rafa or Novak or the other guys who are going to win Paris.”

CAN HE?
