Stefanos Tsitsipas expressed his desire to surpass both his own career-high score and that of his girlfriend Paula Badosa in order to become the world’s top player.
With a current world No. 5 ranking (3 was his best), Tsitsipas is aiming to surpass Badosa’s No. 2 ranking to claim the top slot.
Tsitsipas won a championship in Los Cabos, but he is still far behind the top three in the rankings. To stay in the running to conclude the year as the No. 1 player, he will have to win a number of significant championships.
Tsitsipas expressed these remarks post-match conference: “My goals are to surpass Paula’s best ranking, which is World No. 2. And to get better than that I am. The good thing about us is that we get competitive in those things in a healthy way so I hope I get to equal it or even better.”
