At the ATP 250 in Los Cabos on Saturday night, Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated a determined Alex de Minaur comeback to win his first championship of the year.

The top-seeded Tsitsipas won the match against De Minaur in 86 minutes by converting four of his nine break points.

Tsitsipas said in his on-court interview after the match: “I feel like both of us wanted to go out on the court today and show a great final. I feel like it was a great match. Alex showed great tennis, I tried to keep up with the level as much as I could. I’m really happy we were able to deliver a great final today. I think that is the thing that stands out the most. It was a great match and the crowd, as always, was fully present and engaged.”

Talking about the trophy, Tsitsipas joked by saying: “It’s beautiful indeed. They just need to glue it better because it’s started peeling off.”

Ranked world no.5, the Greek played his last match on the 5th of August when he overcame world no.19 Alex De Minaur 6-3 6-4 in the final in Los Cabos to win his 9th career title.

At present, during this year Tsitsipas has a composed 39-13 record. This year, the Greek lifted the trophy in Los Cabos. Stefanos reached the final at the Australian Open and Barcelona.

Tsitsipas has scheduled to play next in Toronto (National Bank Open). He will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 7th of August.
