MIAMI OPEN. John Isner gracious and happy in defeat vs. Federer

John didn't manage to defend his Miami Open title, but he was still happy for his run

John Isner and Roger Federer at the Miami Open

John Isner was the 2018 Miami Open champion, and at the beginning of the tournament, he stated very clearly that he wasn’t expecting at all to defend his title.

However, the American no.1 surprised himself after reaching the final of this year’s Miami Open and without dropping a single set. Nevertheless, John had the massive task of playing the great Roger Federer in the last act of the tournament, and eventually the Swiss won with a smooth 6-1 6-4 scoreline in just 63 minutes.

No shame in losing to Roger Federer. ISNER

After losing the final, the American posted a very nice picture of him talking with Federer after the match stating

“Never this happy after a loss but there’s no shame in getting my ass kicked by this legend @rogerfederer . Thank you @miamiopen for another memorable tournament.”
